The Founder
As a founder/entrepreneur, there is intrinsic satisfaction in knowing that your success will help to make a difference in the world, not only through the products and services you have developed, but also in the wealth and opportunities you have created. As an Old Reedonian founder/entrepreneur, this can go one step further...
In the near term, you may be focusing on growing your business but, but by joining the Equity for Equity community and making a pledge to donate a small percentage of your share value at a future liquidity event means that, as your business grows, you will be helping to create a more equitable society, providing opportunities for vulnerable children and helping to inspire future generations of entrepreneurs.
Pledge Your Support
By making a pledge, you will:
- Join a unique and trusted community of Old Reedonian founders/entrepreneurs for social, business and networking opportunities.
- Inspire and connect with like-minded aspiring Reed’s founders/entrepreneurs.
- Know that in the future your support will directly help transform the lives of Reed’s Foundation pupils.
The Future Financial Benefits
At the point you experience a liquidity event in your business and wish to make a donation against your pledge, there are significant tax benefits you will realise. A gift of the cash proceeds of your shares, rather than the shares themselves allows for the following tax benefits:
- You be able to claim income tax relief on the amount of the donation if you are a higher rate tax-payer.
- If your taxable income is between £100,000 and £125,000, the tapering of your personal allowance will be reduced by £1 for every £2 of gross Gift Aid donations.
- The total Capital Gains Tax due against your share disposal could be reduced if tthe higher rate tax relief on the donation is greater than the CGT you need to pay.
- Reed’s Foundation can claim gift aid at 25% of the value of the donation.
Tax laws are often changing and depend on personal circumstances, so please consult with your personal tax advisor regarding your own situation.

"As a proud former Foundation pupil, I felt a strong urge to pay forward the invaluable support I received. Rather than making a one-time donation, I wanted to invest in the future of the Foundation in a more enduring way. By pledging a share of the value of my business and mentoring aspiring entrepreneurs, I’m committed to creating a lasting impact that not only enriches the lives of vulnerable children but also brings me deep personal fulfilment. Together, we can shape the next generation of innovators."
